I’m David D. Pistol, an Ottawa-based photographer and visual storyteller, and Lead Photographer for House of Paint and Cranium Arts Project. My recent work includes photographing this year’s Ottawa Jazz Festival and participating as a mentor and exhibiting photographer in Portraits of a Music City.

Rooted in hip-hop culture, community and connection, my approach captures the performance and the moments around it—the anticipation, shared joy and exchanges between artists and audiences—to tell the story of what makes each event matter.
